Mega Millions and Powerball Jackpots Soar, Attracting Worldwide Attention

The renowned Mega Millions lottery saw its jackpot soar to an astonishing $850 million, as reported by USA Today. This development comes as no jackpot winner emerged from the drawing on January 15th.

Had there been a winner who matched all the five numbers 3,11,12,38,43 along with the Mega Ball 15, the jackpot would have stood at $750 million (around 824.6 billion won). This makes it the fifth-largest jackpot in the history of the U.S. lottery and the second-largest in Mega Millions' history.

The next drawing is scheduled for January 19th. But that's not the only opportunity for lottery enthusiasts. The following day's Powerball jackpot is estimated at a substantial $640 million (about 703.7 billion won). This marks the eighth-largest in U.S. lottery history and the largest since March 2019.

Both lotteries offer winners a choice between a one-time lump-sum payment or a 30-year annuity. A significant majority opts for the former, with Mega Millions' one-time payout being $628.2 million and Powerball's $478.7 million.

Both lotteries are available in 45 U.S. states, with Powerball also selling in Puerto Rico and Washington DC.

While these amounts might seem staggering, they're still below the record highs. The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever was $1.54 billion in 2018. Meanwhile, Powerball's record stands at $1.59 billion from January 2016.

The odds of winning either lottery? A staggering 1 in 300 million.

Yet, these numbers might not seem so distant for worldwide players anymore. With the introduction of purchasing services like Lottery Stupore, these global lotteries are more accessible than ever.
